My repeat client in the Menlo Park area is once again aggressively hiring multiple positions. They are a nanotechnology-licensing company with a hefty portfolio of hundreds of patents encompassing a broad range of technology. Three excellent positions follow:
(1) Reliability Engineer (Lighting)
Background:
My repeat client uses high-IQE semiconductor quantum dots as remote phosphors (QDRP) for BLUs and applications in illumination. QDRPs are a superior solution since they enable spectral engineering, provide high energy efficiency and allow for easy systems integration.
Major responsibilities:
(1) Reliability Engineer (Lighting)
Background:

Major responsibilities:
- Establish state-of-the-art reliability function for Quantum Dot Remote Phosphors Packages used in LED driven BLUs and illuminators.
- Define and manage product reliability qualification procedures and efforts.
- Work with Test Engineering to design and build test stations.
- Lead FA efforts to identify failure mechanisms.
- Propose and implement device reliability improvements in collaboration with the design, processing, and packaging teams.
- Work closely with external stakeholders (customers, suppliers, contract manufacturers).
- 5+ years of experience with reliability testing of optical packages or polymer films on glass or metal.
- Strong background in reliability engineering and statistics.
- Experience conducting HALT/HIST and reliability qualification plans.
- Strong understanding of issues related to structures with different CTEs.
- Semiconductor processing and packaging knowledge a plus.
- Optical test experience a plus.
- Experience designing opto-mechanical components for high volume manufacturing.
- Experience designing fixture and tools.
- Experience transferring products from development to high volume manufacturing.
- Background in optical and display technology.
- Experience with mechanic design tools: ProE or Solidworks.
- Experience with FEA for thermal and stress modeling preferred.
- Experience working with external vendors.
- Project management experience preferred.
- Minimum MS in physics or engineering with a specialization in optics.
- Minimum 5 years industrial experience in design and development of opto-mechanical products.
- Develop and functionalize advanced battery materials
- Design and evaluate new electrode formulations.
- Create and implement diagnostic test methods for battery characterization.
- Analyze performance and identify failure mechanisms.
- Update peers and senior management on program progress.
- BS in Synthetic Chemistry, Electrochemistry or Chemical Engineering; advanced degree a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of industrial experience.
- Excellent skills in inorganic and/or organometallic synthesis, isolation and characterization methods.
- Demonstrated skills in electrochemistry, preferably in battery design and testing.
- Ability to work independently and in multi-disciplinary teams to accomplish goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Direct experience in battery development and manufacturing.
- Experience designing electrode structures.
- Experience with molecular modeling.
Required Experience/skills:
Education Requirements:
BS in physics / materials science / chemistry / EE or related filed. Advanced degree a plus.
(2) LED Packaging Engineer
Major responsibilities:
In this position you will be the lead optical design engineer responsible for the creation of a new set of LED illumination products based on my client's proprietary quantum dot phosphor technology. Part of your responsibilities will include working with chemists and packaging engineers in the development of novel packaging and integration techniques for quantum dots which maximize optical efficiency and light extraction. To qualify for this job you should have a track record integrating LED's into high performance illumination devices from concept to production.

(3) Battery Chemist
Background:
My client is currently looking for a Synthetic Chemist or Electrochemist to work on its electrochemical energy storage products. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team working on energy storage materials with best-in-class performance.
